WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

What is this about? It depends who’s asking…

Just under the surface of this question, lies the bigger question. The “Who am I?” question. The question of questions!

So… What is this?
The question asks itself in the form of materials and time, (both woefully inadequate for such a task, but better than words). Closer to experience than words, (words which divide us from ourselves and our perception).

If forced to choose a word, then the word  “transience” comes to mind… not the definition but the quality. The artist is transient, as are his materials, chosen for their short existence. The subjects of these representations have had a foreshortened existence.

The response to “What is this?”, would also contain the word “ready-made”. Forms encountered in the infinite present, found without looking.

Found content, showing form being created every day, by human interaction. Divided yet complete.

The world is a miniature. It is a representation. It is a reference to outside forces, all combining to create  contradiction. On a scale between misery and beauty.

“To free the world from our projections is the ultimate art…”
